Kathleen Speranza is an artist with more than 30 years of experience painting and teaching. She maintains a studio in Lynn Massachusetts and teaches workshops across the country and abroad. Ms. Speranza is also on the faculty at Rhode Island School of Design and teaches Painting and Drawing to sophomores in the Illustration Department there. She is affiliated as a workshop instructor at JSS in Civita Castellana, Italy. Workshops are offered there in June and July.

Kathleen’s paintings have been exhibited in museums, college art galleries and commercial galleries in the Northeast and beyond. Public collections include Ralph Lauren Co., Meditech Corporation, Harvard Museum of Natural History, New England Biolabs and Cell Signaling Technologies. Her work is included in many private collections in the USA and abroad.

Prospectus

Where and When:

The Rochester Art Club 2019 Fall Art Exhibition’s date for receiving/judging/hanging is SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd beginning 9:30 a.m. at Barnes & Noble, 3349 Monroe Avenue, Rochester, NY 14618.   The show will continue through Friday, November 30, 2019 with take down on Saturday, November 30th.  Gallery hours are the store hours.

 

Show Reception:  WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH   6:00 – 8:00 PM

Awards:

The Best of Show award – $100, Jo Ell Mileo Cunningham Creativity Award – $50, Rochester Art Supply award – $50 gift card, six Juror awards – $50 each, and six Merit awards – ribbon.

 

Eligibility:

  • Entrant must be a member in good standing of the RAC as of September 30, 2019.
  • Associate Affiliates are eligible to enter this exhibit and must be a member in good standing of the RAC as of September 30, 2019. If you are juried into this show, Associate Members will earn one point towards Signature status (three points are required).

 

Entries:

  • Pre-registration ONLY, forms must be postmarked by Wednesday, October 16th, 2019. Forms and fees should be sent to Gabriele Lodder, 977 Pathway La, Webster, NY, 14580.
  • Up to three entries are allowed. A non-refundable entry fee of $8.00 per entry is required.
  • Due to the limited hanging space at Barnes & Noble, please submit no more than 3 pieces.

 

Painting Size and Hanging Specification:  

  • The TOTAL WIDTH of all 3 pieces, INCLUDING framing and matting must be no more than 54 inches wide. (Examples: three 18” wide; one 24” wide plus one 30” wide; or one 54” wide, INCLUDING matting and frame.)  
  • The TOTAL HEIGTH of all 3 pieces, INCLUDING framing and matting must be no more than 54 inches high. (Examples:  three 18” high; on 24” high plus one 30” high; or one 54” high INCLUDING matting and frame.)
  • Entries must be created within the last two years without tutelage and not have been shown at any previous RAC or other juried art show within Monroe County.
  • All aspects of entry must be the artist’s original work including subject, photography, composition, drawing and painting.
  • Entries may not be produced in any instructional class or workshop. Two-dimensional works only will be accepted into this exhibition. No diptych or triptych paintings, mechanical reproductions, photography, crafts, or computer-generated art. No nudes due to the family-oriented nature of Barnes & Noble.
  • Saw-tooth hangers ARE NOT allowed. All paintings must be well framed, dry, and supported by picture wire only. Please make sure that your wire ends are covered with tape to prevent unforeseen injuries to the hanging committee.
  • RAC does not anticipate damage or theft; however, neither Barnes & Noble nor RAC is responsible for damage to, or loss of art works submitted for this exhibit.
  • The show ends on Friday, November 30, 2019. Paintings should not be picked up earlier than 9:30 am.

 

Please Note:

No one except the Show Chairpersons, Club President, Art Shows VP and Judge shall be present during the judging.

 

Regarding Pickup of De-selected Paintings:

Following the judging, phone calls will be made to those entrants for whom all of their entries were accepted. Therefore, “called entrants” do not have to come into B&N. The calls will be made between 2:15 and 2:45pm. Remember, if you do not get a call, you must come to pick up your work. Pick up for work not accepted into the show will be on Saturday, November 2 from 3:00-4:30 pm.

 

Sales:

All sales of paintings are to be handled by the artist. An 8% sales tax is to be collected and handled by the artist outside the premises of Barnes & Noble. You may not conduct business within the store per management. We not able to leave a price list at the customer service desk nor publish painting prices in the program. (We will produce a price list for the reception only.)  Interested buyers will call the artist directly for price information. Telephone numbers are published in the program.  No commission to RAC is to be paid.

  • Up to three (3) entries are allowed (see size guidelines above). Sorry, no late registrations will be accepted.
  • Pre-registration forms and Entry Tags must be typed or printed legibly.
  • Send the pre-registration form below with your entry fee to: Gabriele Lodder, 977 Pathway Ln, Webster, NY, 14580. Envelopes must be postmarked on or before Wednesday, October 16th. (If you have won a free entry via the Popular Vote in the RAC studios on First Fridays, you may redeem it here–please include the certificate with your registration form and payment).
