September 12-16, 2016
Maximum Students: 19
As of August 25th there is only one spot left open!
The Figure and Portrait in Line and Wash
Workshop description:
From the delicate hatching of silverpoint to the liquid washes of watercolor master artists have developed a rich assortment of techniques to create an image on paper. This class will explore many of these great traditions and practices. Each approach provides a distinctive perspective that allows artists to better understand form and render with greater fidelity. Artists as diverse as DaVinci and Sorolla will be looked at to see how each resolved issues related to drawing and painting. The first two days will be devoted to line drawing using silverpoint and pen and ink. The last three days will focus on watercolor in both monochrome and full color painting. A diversity of methods and techniques will be demonstrated in addition to a thorough analysis of form and anatomy.
