Steven has always used art to try to understand the world around him.  Now focusing on painting, a common theme of his work explores how people manipulate the environment to suit their needs, and how that built environment then manipulates them, calling into question the relationship between maker and product.  He’s particularly drawn to the seemingly mundane and commonplace elements of daily life.  Steven will be taking a short break from his role as an architect at SWBR to participate in an artist residency program in Kyoto, Japan in the spring of ‘23.
